And it&#8217;s even more fun when you actually use it to tell stories.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s our strategy in the Drake University School of Journalism and Mass Commmunications (follow <strong>drakejmc<\/strong> on Snapchat). We use the tool to tell stories that have a beginning, middle and end. We also like to use as many of the available Snapchat tools as we can: video, photos, emojis, drawing and text.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s an example.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 320px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-2948-1\" width=\"320\" height=\"480\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"http:\/\/chrissniderdesign.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Video-Mar-04-3-58-05-PM.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/chrissniderdesign.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Video-Mar-04-3-58-05-PM.mp4\">http:\/\/chrissniderdesign.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Video-Mar-04-3-58-05-PM.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nHere&#8217;s the template we use to plan our stories. <a href=\"http:\/\/chrissniderdesign.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/snapchat-storytelling-template1.pdf\">Click here to download the Snapchat storytelling template as a PDF.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/chrissniderdesign.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/snapchat-storytelling-template1.pdf\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/chrissniderdesign.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/snapchat-storytelling-template1.png\" width=\"300\" alt=\"snapchat storytelling template\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2952\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The circles in the upper-right of each rectangle allow you to plan how long you will show each Snap. We&#8217;ve found that you should show them for a shorter amount of time than you think. Two or three seconds tends to be long enough for most of them. <\/p>\n<p>The right side includes a list of all emojis available on iPhones, so you can plan which ones will work well with your story.
