I’ve seen a wealth of interesting new social networks popping up lately, most of which fall into the category of Snapchat clones. Here are five that are on my radar.
Yo

This crazy-simple app (that is actually getting funding) only lets you do one thing: send a message that says “Yo.” As most networks mature, they get more complicated. So simplicity is sometimes rewarded. That’s the case here.
Slingshot

Facebook is taking on Snapchat with this app that doesn’t let you see your messages until you send a response.
Hipe

This app one takes the Slingshot to the next level. No more waiting for a response. You only get 99 seconds to respond via Hipe, or you won’t see your friend’s content.
LokLok

Your friends won’t miss your messages on this Android-only app. It lets you draw on their lock screen.
Emojli
Known as the first emoji-only social network, this app (which is not yet available but is taking sign-ups) only lets you send emojis to friends. Even your username has to be an emoji.
