Top newspapers on Facebook – March 2011

The biggest papers keep getting bigger on Facebook, but we did see some nice jumps from some mid-sized papers during the month of February.

Some notes before we look at the numbers:

  • The New York Daily News is the newest member of the 10,000 Like Club, with 10,451 likes. I am now tracking 20 papers with more than 10,000 likes.
  • The last of the Top 100 newspapers is now on the list. Up until this month, I was tracking the Arizona Daily Star AZNightBuzz page because I could not find their main Facebook page. Well, I found it this month.
  • Speaking of Arizona, check out the way azcentral has integrated a QR code into their Facebook page photo.

Here’s the Top 10 newspapers on Facebook at the beginning of March 2011. No change from February 2011.

Here are the biggest gainers during the month of February by percentage of fans:

  2. Salt Lake Tribune – 32.0%
  3. Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era – 30.2%
  4. Honolulu Star-Advertiser – 29.2%
  5. Daily Herald (Arlington Heights) – 27.9%
  6. Florida Times-Union – 24.3%
  7. St. Louis Post-Dispatch – 23.1%
  8. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette – 21.8%
  9. State (Columbia, S.C.) – 16.9%
  10. Los Angeles Times – 16.8%
