Google is well-known for it’s April Fool’s Day pranks, and this year its social network Google+ got into the act in a fun way.
If you use the photo auto-upload feature on the Google+ app, Google automatically added a photobomb of actor David Hasselhoff to one or more of your photos.
Here’s an example of the Hoff eating my son’s waffles!

It was a fun little project, and I wondered if it had some real-life results. Here’s what I found.
- The Hoff added more than 7,000 followers on Google+.
- His profile went from having 135,000 views yesterday morning to more than 229,000 today.
- Hundreds (maybe thousands) of people shared their photos using the hashtag #Hoffsome.
- And people shared their photos on Twitter as well.
Overall, it was a fun little project and a great promotional tool for both Google+ and Hasselhoff.
