I love Instagram. I love Twitter. Unfortunately the two social media giants no longer play nicely together.

You can still post Instagram photos as a link on Twitter, but you no longer can see the actual photos on Twitter. When you currently share an Instagram photo to Twitter, here’s how it looks:

No photo. No fun.

Fortunately, I found this workaround to make my Instagram photos appear in the Twitter feed (side note: Tweets with a photo get more retweets). The workaround involves posting your Instagram photos automatically to tumblr and using IFTTT to post from tumblr to Twitter.

Don’t worry, it’s not as complicated as it looks. Especially if you’ve use IFTTT before.

So I tried it. Here was my first Tweet using these instructions.

Not bad, but no link to my Instagram account. How will I reach a million followers without a link!?

So I modified the IFTTT recipe to automatically include a link to my Instagram account.

Not perfect, since I’d rather have a link to the actual photo. But it’s much better than the original link above.

What do you think? Have you tried this?
